about

An AWESOME song by Newfoundland's Terry Rielly AKA children's performer 'The Teddy Bear Man.' Terry 'digs' Labrador, he's toured his music there several times. I think this song should live on a testament to Labrador and Canada, an ode to the old ways once found across northern remote regions. I met Terry in Newfoundland, and am very grateful he allowed me to record this.

lyrics

I have travelled over the mountains,
Viewed the Labrador Sea,
I have travelled the old traplines,
My Father left for me,
Now the world is changing,
You might ask "what will become of me?",
I was born a trapper's son,
And so I shall always be.

There are good years and bad ones,
But still I'll not complain,
If I fail this winter,
Next year I'll just try again,
The earth she gives and takes away,
Her gifts I do receive,
For all I have I am thankful,
For I have most all I need

Those who live so far away,
Might think that I am poor,
But I don't want their sympathy,
Of this they can be sure,
For I am richer than many,
Though money I might rarely see,
I have a good life here as a trapper,
My good friends and family.

The value of life is made in the mind,
So wealthy then I must be,
Living here on the Labrador,
I'm as rich as ever I'll be,
Oh Labrador, dear Labrador!
Home you are to me,
You share the wealth ion your forests,
Mountains rivers and sea,
And home you are to me!

about

Adam Ruzzo

My original music springs from my experiences roaming Canada; stories of folks who live unapologetically, a simple and rewarding life; living on the edge, from the North West Territories, to Newfoundland. I find inspiration in the wild landscapes of Canada, including Algonquin Park and through my original compositions, try to convey musically the awe inspiring beauty so evocative of these places. ... more
